Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, May 12, 2020: On Tuesday May 5, 2020 Eagle Radio
95.1 presented a socially distant “SooLebrity Living Room Concert” in partnership with the
Chippewa County Animal Shelter, Central Savings Bank and Austin’s Cigar Lounge.
The idea for a socially distant concert was arranged by Eagle Radio 95.1 station owners, Tim and
Lindsay Ellis, inspired by national celebrities hosting living room concerts of their own. “If
celebrities could host living room concerts, I was certain we could pull something similar to this
off in our genius town to connect people, while we have had to be distant, with the gift of
music,” stated Lindsay Ellis.
This concert featured 8 local artists, musicians, dancers and singers performing virtually with
“attendance” averaging 50 people during the one-hour event! The concert also aired on Eagle
Radio’s FM frequency, WUPN 95.1. Musicians included: Zac Crook, Karen Beacom, Ryan and
Sara Maurer, Donna Paquette, Mark Bowen, Olivia Messer, Tyler Detloff, Myah McKerchie,
plus Tim and Lindsay Ellis. Performances ranged from singing (original pieces and covers)
dancing, piano, a Snoop Dog puppet show, duets and even an appearance by a Joe Exotic
imposter!
“Performing was such a pleasure, and to do it for this amazing community was even more
exciting! To bring recognition to other amazing local artists was also a huge joy for me,”
said performer and graduating senior, class of 2020, Myah McKerchie.
Donations to the Chippewa County Animal Shelter was a part of the concert’s promotion. “Being
passionate about animals, we felt it was important to remember the works of our local animal
shelter during these challenging times we have all been faced with, so we came up with a no contact way to arrange donations for supplies from the community,” expressed Tim Ellis. The outpour of donations and financial support was abundant from community members, as well as Central Saving Bank staff collections totaling $345.00.
“We have been privy to compassion and dedication that Eagle Radio has shown to the homeless
animals of Chippewa County. But their ability to bring our community together is
insurmountable. I can’t thank Lindsay and Tim and all the crew enough,” says Holly Henderson,
Director of Chippewa County Animal Shelter. Eagle Radio owners and staff wish to praise the community for their generosity, those who joined the concert entertainment and the station’s marketing partners, Central Savings Bank and Austin’s
Cigar Lounge for their collaborations.
